OUR VISION AND VALUES
Deaconess Community Foundation aspires to be a model philanthropic supporter of our grantees and to serve as a source of knowledge and experience for grantees to increase their efficiency and impact. It is of the utmost importance for all potential and returning grantees to understand that DCF is a trustee-led, mission-driven, collaborative, community responsive foundation.
Trustee-led
DCF believes that a dedicated group of active, ethical and responsible Trustees with a diversity of opinion, perspective, experience, and skills is essential to an effective grantmaking process and achievement of our mission.
Mission-driven
DCF fulfills our mission through a grantmaking process that places mission fit at the forefront and with the underlying belief that people have the inherent capacity to effect positive changes in their lives, in their organizations, and in their communities.
Collaborative
DCF encourages cooperation and collaboration within the nonprofit community to improve quality and efficiency, through fostering safe, respectful relationships with and, if appropriate, among our grantees. We believe that the very nature of certain nonprofits requires an ongoing need for philanthropic support, and that there are realistic limitations to a nonprofit’s ability to become self-sustaining. As such, DCF does not impose fixed funding period limitations.
Community responsive
Our entire grantmaking budget is available to respond to needs identified by grantees. We honor our grantees as trusted colleagues, value their expertise and celebrate their accomplishments and dedication.
